Here is how to refill your torch lighter properly:

1. Bleed the Lighter: Release all tank pressure by pressing the refill inlet valve with a small screwdriver until no hissing sound is heard. This allows air inside the fuel tank to prevent butane from being injected.

2. Set Flame Height Adjustment: To prevent unexpectedly high flame after refilling, turn the flame height adjuster on the bottom of the lighter to the lowest setting by turning the flame adjustment wheel clockwise.

3. Filling Tank with Butane: Hold the lighter and butane can in a vertical upside-down position. Press the stem of the butane can into the refill valve in 5-second bursts to inject the fuel. Wait a few minutes before igniting the lighter.

4. Test the Lighter: Turn the flame adjustment wheel 1/2 turn counter-clockwise and attempt to light the lighter. If the lighter won't light, turn the adjustment wheel another 1/4 turn and try again. Keep adjusting until the flame reaches the desired level.

Safety precautions: Refill or empty the lighter in a well-ventilated area. Do not refill or empty near any heat source, sparks, or flame. No smoking during the process. Do not keep the lighter igniting for more than 10 seconds.
